Bentonite clay (Attapulgite clay or Fuller’s earth) is a naturally occurring Montmorillonite clay mineral with a myriad of applications in various industries. It is derived from volcanic ash deposits and is composed of hydrated aluminium silicates that contain metal ions such as magnesium, sodium, and calcium. Bentonite clay is primarily used in the refining of oils and fats of mineral as well as organic origin.

Copia Clay Pvt. Ltd. specialises in the processing, marketing, and distribution of various grades of bentonite clay granules. These granules are commonly used as a sustained retard release carrier for agrochemicals, as well as to refine aviation turbine fuel per accepted international standards.

Calcined bentonite granules are created by reducing bentonite lumps to the desired mesh size and heat-treating them at about 700 degrees Celsius. The calcination process ensures that the clay retains its inherent absorption and purification properties while enhancing its thermal stability, porosity, and hardness. Calcined bentonite granules are widely used in the agrochemical industry as a controlled release agent for pesticides, biofertilisers, and plant growth regulators.

Carbonised and calcined blank bentonite granules feature a black coating of carbon. These bentonite granules are commonly used in the manufacture of pesticides such as phorate 10 CG and also as a carrier agent for biofertilisers such as zyme and humic acid

Natural calcined blank bentonite granules retain their natural colour as they are processed without the use of a carbonising agent. These bio-neutral granules are used primarily as a sustained retard release agent for biofertilisers, biopesticides, plant growth stimulants, herbal-based fungicides, insecticides, and repellents. Natural calcined blank granules are eco-friendly and play a vital role in integrated crop management.

Copia Clay’s CP Jet 100 (30/60) and CP Jet 100 B (16/30) high-performance granules have proven effective in the Merox Process of refining aviation turbine fuel (ATF). The granulated attapulgite-based clay minerals are specially processed to attain an extremely low moisture level, which in turn ensures the efficient removal of traces of water, surfactants, and various other impurities from ATF. Aviation turbine fuel processed with Copia’s activated clay granules is assured to meet international specifications.

Leveraging the profound insights and expertise of our core leadership team, the Copia Group ventured into the agriculture sector in an effort to boost value and bolster the rural economy. Extensive experience and expertise in floriculture have enabled us to establish a thriving orchid plantation with significant growth potential in India, minimising the need to import these flowers from South-East Asia.

Copia Agri Pvt. Ltd. has also expanded its operations to include the cultivation of Hydrangea flowers.
